We have counselors on site who can talk to clients about the hardships that come with their condition and how they can overcome them. This can help our clients build self-esteem and self-worth. The counselor will also spend time with the whole family; these conversations can help build trust, love and understanding within the family.
We have on site classrooms that teach our clients how to better cope and better manage their condition. We also use these classrooms to teach the community about Sickle Cell trait and Sickle Cell Disease, while encouraging adult and child screening. We also offer off-site workshop to increase awareness about Sickle Cell Disease and Sickle Cell Traits in our community.
We also have classes that teach different skills to increase our client’s chances of getting a job. Those with Sickle Cell Disease can come to the Masanga Center to learn English, computer skills, and more.
